The B STREET BAND, for decades a South Jersey staple and tribute to the one and only Bruce Springsteen, has lost its "Bruce Springsteen." Glenn Stewart, lead singer, front man and all things "Bruce" has died. He was 63. Stewart, dealing with a cancer diagnosis, was still performing with the band. Max Weinberg, the longtime drummer of The E Street Band played with Stewart just two weeks ago. "He mentioned to me that he wasn't feeling great and was a bit concerned that he wasn't doing justice to Bruce's material," he added. "The opposite was true." Stewart racked up nearly 6,000 performances, according to the BStreetband's website. From The deck of Trump Marina and area casinos where I saw him a dozen times over the years to pre-show Bruce Springsteen concerts in Philly and New Jersey, Stewart's love and enthusiasm for what he did, and his lifetime passion for Bruce Springsteen/E Street Band music was evident. His resemblance to "The Boss" was apparent through that enthusiasm and raw energy on stage. Glenn Stewart no doubt left a powerful legacy connecting his fans to the legend of Bruce Springsteen with close up access to the power cords and vocals of these timeless classics. He allowed us to escape our momentary troubles in life for just a couple of hours with a friendly smile, a sizzling rendition of a Springsteen classic and maybe an intermission chat about all things "Bruce". Thank you Glenn Stewart. You changed lives and made the world a whole lot better!
